Anissa | BACP Accredited Integrative Counsellor / Psychotherapist
Introduction
--- Online counselling only ---
Hi and welcome to my profile. My name is Anissa and I am a BACP Accredited and experienced Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I provide a warm, safe and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and both past and present experiences at your own pace. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, abuse or trauma, I am here to support you in making sense of these challenges and finding a way forward.
I have undertaken specialist training in trauma through the Trauma Research Foundation (co-founded by Bessel van der Kolk) and I have additional training in supporting adults impacted by adoption through a programme delivered by the Albany Centre in collaboration with the Barnardo’s charity. This includes working with adult adoptees, birth parents, adoptive parents and adults with lived experience of foster care, children’s homes or under a guardianship arrangement. I am currently training to become a clinical supervisor.
My integrative approach draws on Person-Centred and Psychodynamic theories as well as Relational and Attachment Based theories, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Positive Psychology and other evidence-based modalities. This allows me to tailor our work to your unique needs and experiences.
In our sessions togerther, I will support you with empathy and care to explore and understand the root causes of your difficulties. My aim is to help you feel empowered by fostering emotional growth and supporting you in recognising your strengths. Together, we will work towards enhancing your wellbeing and creating meaningful, lasting positive change.
We will also focus on developing practical strategies to help you manage different aspects of your life’s challenges such as coping with stress, improving communication and building healthier relationships. A key part of our work will involve strengthening your resilience, supporting you to navigate future difficulties with greater confidence. Through this process, you will develop deeper self-awareness and a clearer understanding of yourself.
I am culturally aware, open and attuned to diversity. I offer inclusive and compassionate support to individuals from a wide range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds, those who identify as neurodivergent (whether formally diagnosed or not) and members of the LGBTQ+ community including individuals who identify outside the gender binary.
Alongside my professional training, I bring a wealth of personal and professional life experiences to my therapeutic practice. This includes 9 years working as a Teaching Assistant and French teacher in primary schools in Lambeth as well as 4 years with the mental health charity Lambeth and Southwark Mind (now part of South East London (SEL) Mind).
I am fluent in both English and French and I offer both short-term and long-term therapy depending on your individual needs.
I work with a range of areas including:
