Anxiety is usually linked with overthinking things, and often leads to convincing ourselves of the worst possible reasons or results of what may be happening in the future. If we tend to feel worried in a negative way about things this is more likely to cause us trouble. Rather than trying to remove anxiety it may be better to recognise it has its uses, a bit like pain which can be useful to alert us to potential physical problems. But anxiety can get out of control, so with some help it can be returned to being useful.
Bedford

I support people living with persistent worry, heightened alertness or strong emotional and physical reactions that feel difficult to understand or regulate. My approach is steady, relational and culturally attuned, offering space to explore what sits beneath overwhelm, make sense of long‑standing patterns and ease the impact of panic, avoidance and overthinking. Together, we work toward clarity, grounding and a more spacious, sustainable way of being, where your inner world feels steadier and more fully your own.

As an integrative psychotherapist with IFS & CBT training, I help people overcome anxiety by understanding its underlying causes and applying effective approaches to reduce it.
These are some of the approaches I use :
1 Learning techniques to relax at times of stress
2 Challenging negative thinking and replacing it with more healthy attitudes
3 Sharing feelings of anxiety rather than bottling them up
4 Looking at proactive approaches to face fear-provoking issues
5 Resolving past trauma that underlies the anxiety

My role is to get to know you and for you to develop a greater understanding of yourself in a safe, confidential, supportive and jargon-free environment - a space for you to explore what you want to explore, also how you feel, think and act. Working at your own pace, I offer guidance and support so fresh ways of seeing yourself, the options and making choices become available. Alongside the issues you bring to counselling, we may look at where you would like to be in your life and what prevents you getting there, so far.

People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. For some it's when there's a crisis, for others it's to work on themselves, or better understand their relationships with others.
Whatever your reason for reaching out, I'm here to support you, by providing a safe and confidential space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
