Stephen | Psychotherapist

Psychotherapy Sedbergh

I’m Stephen, a psychotherapist based in Cumbria offering walk-and-talk and online therapy. Many of the people I support come to me because anxiety, fear, or phobias are getting in the way of living fully. My approach is calm, grounded, and practical - helping you make sense of what you’re experiencing and find ways forward that restore confidence and balance.

Alongside anxiety-related difficulties, I specialise in:

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Abuse and relational wounds

  • Addiction and recovery

  • Stress and burnout

  • Boarding school trauma

  • Men’s mental health and emotional wellbeing

I believe therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical or pressured. Outdoors in nature, walking side-by-side, or online via Zoom, I create a safe space to ease conversations and reduce stress.

From spring 2026, I’ll also be offering Paddle-Board Therapy in the Lake District, combining movement on the water with reflective conversation.

If you would like to know more or book an appointment, please send me a message via the send a message - button.

Online therapy

Online therapy is a flexible way to access support from wherever you feel most at ease - whether that’s at home, at work, or another safe space. I use Zoom, a secure and easy-to-use platform, so you only need a device and an internet connection. You don't have to download the Zoom software.

Sessions follow the same approach as my outdoor work: calm, grounded, and tailored to you. Many people find that online therapy makes it easier to talk about anxiety, fears, or phobias without the added pressure of travelling.

The aim is simple: to support you in standing tall again and and to take steps towards living with greater purpose and ease.

Specialisations and Expertises

I specialise in anxiety, fears, and phobias, as well as trauma, addiction, men’s mental health, stress, and burnout.

I also have experience supporting people with abuse, boarding school trauma, and identity challenges.

My approach is grounded, practical, and often nature-based, using walk-and-talk therapy in Cumbria or secure online sessions via Zoom.

  • Trauma and addiction

  • Men’s mental health and emotional wellbeing

There’s no fixed number of sessions as every client’s journey is different. Some people benefit from short-term therapy (6–12 sessions) to focus on specific challenges like anxiety or phobias, while others choose longer-term work to explore deeper patterns and create lasting change.

Together, we’ll agree on an approach that feels right for you.

Most common issues I support people with:

The Top 5 Issues I Support People With

  1. Anxiety, Fears & Phobias – easing the grip of worry and fear, and building confidence to face daily life.

  2. Trauma & PTSD - helping people process difficult experiences in a safe, grounded way.

  3. Addiction & Recovery - supporting change and building healthier coping strategies.

  4. Burnout & Stress - finding balance, resilience, and practical ways forward when life feels relentless.

  5. Men’s Mental Health - creating space for men to open up honestly and explore what’s going on beneath the surface.

Whether outdoors in Cumbria or online via Zoom, I offer a calm, grounded, and supportive approach to help people move forward.
