Jason | Integrative Hypnotherapist
Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy Nottingham
Hi, I'm Jason. I am an integrative hypnotherapist and psychotherapist with over 22 years’ experience specialising in anxiety, fear, panic and phobias. I work with adults who struggle with overwhelming fear responses that interfere with daily life, confidence and wellbeing. Many clients come to therapy after long periods of avoidance, distress or unpredictable anxiety reactions. My role is to help you understand what keeps these patterns in place and guide you safely towards a greater sense of steadiness and emotional stability.
How I Help with Anxiety, Fear & Phobias
My approach blends hypnotherapy, integrative psychotherapy, and structured belief-based work. This means we work both with the present symptoms of anxiety, fear and panic and with the underlying emotional and subconscious patterns that influence them. Many people find hypnotherapy especially helpful for phobias and fear responses because it supports change at the level where conditioned fear reactions become entrenched.Issues I Support You With
-
Anxiety and chronic worry
-
Panic responses and panic attacks
-
Fear-based reactions and avoidance
-
Specific phobias (e.g., social, situational, animal/objects)
-
Underlying belief patterns that reinforce fear
How Sessions Work
Sessions are structured, calm and focused on practical progress. You remain fully present and in control throughout. Whether working online or in person, the process is similar: we build understanding, support emotional regulation, and work towards reducing the impact fear has on your life. Why This Matters
Anxiety, fear and phobias are conditioned responses rather than signs of weakness. When underlying patterns are explored, change can begin to feel more accessible. The work focuses on helping your system update patterns that are no longer serving you, supporting a greater sense of calm, confidence, and choice.

Online therapy
I offer online sessions primarily via Zoom, as it is a secure, reliable, and simple platform to use. If you have a preference for another suitable platform, I am open to using alternatives where confidentiality and quality of connection can be maintained.
Online therapy works in much the same way as in-person sessions. We meet at an agreed time using a private link, and the session takes place in a calm, focused, and confidential space. Many people who experience anxiety or fear find that being in their own home helps them feel safer and more at ease, which can support the therapeutic process.
For anxiety, panic, and phobia work, online sessions can be especially suitable because:
-
The focus is on your internal responses rather than your physical location
-
You remain in control within a familiar environment
-
It reduces the stress of travel or waiting rooms
-
It allows work to feel contained and manageable
All you need is:
-
A quiet, private space
-
A stable internet connection
-
A device with a camera and microphone
-
Headphones if you prefer added privacy
Hypnotherapy and subconscious-based approaches can translate well to online work, as the focus is on your awareness, emotional regulation, and nervous system responses rather than physical presence. You remain fully aware and in control throughout.
Many clients find online therapy feels as supportive and workable for them as face-to-face sessions, particularly for anxiety and phobia work, where safety, comfort, and emotional containment are essential.
All sessions are conducted with full attention to confidentiality, professional boundaries, and ethical standards, with a strong focus on providing a safe and respectful therapeutic experience

Specialisations and Expertises
Specialisation
I specialise in working with adults experiencing anxiety, panic, fear responses, and phobias that interfere with daily life, confidence, and emotional stability. Much of this work focuses on understanding how fear patterns become established in the nervous system and supporting the system in responding differently to patterns that are no longer helpful.
My approach
My approach blends hypnotherapy, integrative psychotherapy, and structured belief-based work. This supports working both with the immediate experience of anxiety and panic, and with the deeper emotional and subconscious patterns that influence fear reactions. The work is calm, contained, and carefully paced.
Common areas of focus include:
-
Panic responses and fear of losing control
-
Specific phobias and situational fears
-
Social and performance anxiety
-
Health-related anxiety
-
Avoidance behaviours that limit life choices
-
Underlying beliefs that influence fear
About phobias and fear responses
Phobias and fear-based reactions are often learned patterns rather than fixed conditions. With a careful and supportive approach, many people find that change can begin to feel more accessible than expected, without needing to force or push themselves.
Number of sessions
The number of sessions varies depending on the complexity and history of the issue. Some clients begin to notice changes within a small number of sessions, while others benefit from a longer therapeutic process. Progress is guided by your pace and reviewed regularly.
Most common issues I support people with:
1. Anxiety and chronic worry
Ongoing feelings of tension, overthinking, restlessness, and a sense of being on edge. This includes general anxiety that affects sleep, confidence, and day-to-day functioning.
2. Panic and panic attacks
Sudden waves of fear, physical symptoms, and a feeling of being overwhelmed that can feel frightening and unpredictable. The work focuses on supporting your system in developing a greater sense of safety and working with the fear of the fear itself.
3. Phobias and specific fears
Such as social anxiety, driving, flying, medical or dental fears, animals, confined spaces, or other specific triggers. These are often learned responses that can begin to soften as underlying patterns are explored.
4. Fear-based avoidance behaviours
Avoiding situations, places, or experiences because of anxiety or fear. This can gradually shrink life and confidence. Therapy supports working with avoidance and opening up greater choice.
5. Underlying belief patterns that maintain fear
Beliefs such as “I’m not safe,” “I can’t cope,” or “Something bad will happen.” These often sit beneath anxiety and phobias and can strongly influence how fear responses are experienced.
